The immediate care medical center wants to clear the congested emergency room in Montauban

After years of work, Leonid Chrol, a health center built in the Mediatheque district, avenue du Père, will open its gates. On its ground floor, the medical center finishes the immediate care with preparations for the reception of patients. It will open on Wednesday, June 1, with two nurses and two doctors.

There are four, two nurses and two doctors, and they want to become a baton between the city’s general practitioners and emergency hospitals. Stéphane Ramon and Laure Meszoly, nurses, joined forces with Adeline Sourbes and Stéphanie Cordier, emergency doctors, to create a CMSI for the Immediate Care Medical Center.

With the support of the consulting company CMSI France, four caregivers embarked on this adventure for several reasons. “We’ve made observations, Stéphane is trying to sum it up. There’s an emergency problem. They’re crowded. GPs often need to do x-rays, stitches, patches quickly. We want a technical solution for them and a way to clear up clogged cases.”

For patients who need a quick response, immediate care, this can be a good alternative so they don’t have to wait for hours on standby. “We’ll treat every patient here in one hour,” Stéphane estimates, based on the experience of other CMSIs, already well established and functional.

“Some patients no longer dare to go to the emergency room due to the waiting time,” emphasizes Laure Meszoly. “Our goal is precisely patients who have minor emergencies, injuries, mild traumatology,” adds Stéphane. Then no vital emergency.

No competition with doctors, nurses or emergency hospitals

If the patient requires hospitalization, he will be redirected. “We have established contact with the Pont de Chaume Clinic, a hospital in Montauban where I worked in the emergency room, says Adeline Sourbes. We have a clerk in each specialization so we can contact him if the patient needs to be hospitalized.” “.

It also does not address the treatment of chronic diseases, renew prescriptions or become a general practitioner. “We’re not here for that,” they emphasize in one voice.

This completes several boxes. Inside brand new equipment: medicine cart, defibrillator, electrocardiogram. And above all, the radiology hall, the possibility of taking biological samples and their rapid analysis thanks to a partnership with the laboratory. Cost of investment financed by 4 partners: 550,000 euros.

For a start, the center will be open from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, but the team no longer rules out a later start with a wider opening, especially on weekends. They hope to be able to admit 80 patients a day, with or without an agreed date.

Last preparations before the opening to the public on Wednesday, June 1.
